MISFIRED
Some said they saw it coming while others didn’t know
A flame burning so strong and bright suddenly lost its glow
The party raged as you took that walk down the misty narrow road
The people waited for your presence but you just didn’t show
The wind did blow and the sky did cry as you sat there through the night
The spring approached the forest growth had welcomed the daylight
Suddenly a son was lost the king had lost his might
The birds refused to sing that morning because something wasn’t right
The hours pass and the days go by and it turns a brand new year
But father time sitting on his throne can’t wipe away the tears
To question why on that lonely night out there amongst the trees
The forest knows all the answers but it won’t tell you or me
To the good times we had and the laughter we shared
No matter how big or small
It’s the times denied, the times we would have had
That I’ll miss most of all
